Mary, Mother, Companion & Helpmate of Jesus Christ in the Work of Redemption
God himself entrusted to her his only begotten son. It was through her the eternal word took on human flesh in her womb. It was she who gave him birth, protection, nurture, religious and moral upbringing. It was principally under her motherly hand and maternal influence that “Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.”(Luke 2:52) And it was she who was the strong courageous one, standing steadfastly by him at the foot of his cross even as the other disciples fled.
As Mother of Christ she is also Mother of the Church, which is Christ’s body. In this way she also becomes mother of all the faithful who are members of his body. The story of Schoenstatt, that “beautiful place”, is largely the story of Mary’s divinely ordained role as true mother and educator of all the faithful, and how she is the most direct way to a deep and healthy love of Christ, self, and neighbor.
In this section you are provided materials that help you learn how her maternal graces warm cold hearts and teach us how tenderly to share that warmth with others. Here you will be provided ways directly to experience how much she is able to give us if only we freely choose to invite her to take an active part in our lives—How she gently guides and empowers, step by step, as only a mother can, those interior developmental processes that promote a tender and ever deepening receptivity to things authentically moral and religious.
